Meet the team

Robert Dougherty _{Investment Specialist}

Robert graduated with a degree in Finance and Investment Banking in 2021 and now oversees Watson French’s investment strategy on a day-to-day basis, designing and maintaining the investment proposition to reflect our long-term views on markets.

Robert spends his time conducting investment research, meeting regularly with fund managers, reviewing our model portfolios and evaluating our overall investment proposition to ensure our strategy is robust and resilient to meet each clients’ long-term objectives.

He also writes some of our regular investment literature, including contributing to our monthly asset commentary and writing our investment Term of the Week.

Ryan Carmedy _{Associate IFA}

Ryan joined Watson French in January 2023 as a Graduate Trainee IFA after graduating with a degree in Economics from Durham University in 2022.

He holds the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is currently working towards achieving Chartered status alongside his day-to-day role as an Associate IFA.

In his role within the advice team, Ryan acts as a key point of contact for new and existing clients. He assists in preparing bespoke advice reports, conducting client meetings and managing existing client relationships, always focused on maintaining an excellent level of service.

Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys walking along the Cornish Coast – often stopping at a café on route.

Harry Downing _{Associate IFA}

Harry joined Watson French in April 2023 and is an Associate Independent Financial Adviser. 

He holds the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is working towards Chartered status. He works within the advice team to provide tailored recommendations to meet clients’ individual needs and objectives. Harry advises across a wide range of financial matters, with a particular focus on investments and retirement planning.  

He graduated with a degree in Business and Economics from California State University, Bakersfield, in 2023. Outside of work, Harry enjoys football and has a keen interest in how technology can be used to benefit society.

Anna Roberts _{Executive Assistant}

Anna joined the Watson French team in 2021. As an Executive Assistant, her day-to-day duties include organising the business calendar and providing administrative support to new and existing clients. She is often a first point of contact for clients and is able to assist with any enquiries.

Anna holds a BA (Hons) degree in English from Royal Holloway, University of London.

Lucy Maloney _{Administrator}

Lucy joined Watson French in May 2023 as an administrator to support Anna in day to day duties, servicing new and existing clients and to be the first point of contact for client enquiries.

In her spare time Lucy enjoys walking her two spaniel’s and gardening.

Fiona Chegwidden _{Graduate Trainee IFA}

Fiona joined Watson French in November 2024 as a Graduate Trainee IFA.

She is currently working towards achieving the CII Level 4 Diploma, alongside her daily activities which include producing client valuations and supporting the investment research process at Watson French.

Fiona graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), as well as an intercalated BSc in Oncology from University College London in 2023. She spent a year working as a doctor in the NHS, before pursuing an alternative career in financial services.

Fiona enjoys gardening and also has a keen interest in Cornish culture, music and dance.
